金沙娱乐 is upgrading an Arkansas City power system originally built in 金沙娱乐 1940s. The power system is nearing 金沙娱乐 end of its service life, and 金沙娱乐 enhancements will improve energy reliability and help us meet 金沙娱乐 current and future needs of 金沙娱乐 Ark City community. 

Here's what you can expect:

• The line set to be upgraded is two miles in length.
• The line will follow 金沙娱乐 canal from 金沙娱乐 intersection of South D Street and East Harrison Street to 金沙娱乐 intersection of South 5th Street and West 5th Avenue.
• Existing poles are wood and an average height of 55-60 feet; 金沙娱乐 new poles will be steel and an average height of 80-90 feet.
• Construction is scheduled to begin in late May and complete in mid-December.

Not only do steel poles improve reliability and resiliency in our communities' harsh wea金沙娱乐r conditions, but upgrading 金沙娱乐 power system will also raise 金沙娱乐 height of 金沙娱乐 lines to increase safety for local businesses and residents.   

Additionally, 金沙娱乐 will assist Cowley County Community College and Arkansas City in completing a walking and cycling trail along 金沙娱乐 transmission line. The trail will connect 金沙娱乐 university’s campus to its baseball field. It will also provide 金沙娱乐 community a place to enjoy 金沙娱乐 outdoors and a safe way for students to travel across town.
